‘IN2PAST PhD Talk’ in Lisboa, June 4th

Truth, Justice and Memory

A round table with Francisco Azevedo Mendes, Rui Cunha Martins and Ruy Llera Blanes

talk

21/06/2024

11:00 am

ISCTE, Room B323 (Building 4)

The aim of this round table is to present reflections on the intersection between truth, justice and memory policies in post-colonial, authoritarian, post-authoritarian and post-violence contexts, based on research in Brazil, Portugal, Angola and Guinea-Bissau.

The ‘IN2PAST PhD Talks’ Series returns to Lisbon on June 21st with researchers Francisco Azevedo Mendes (Lab2PT – University of Minho / IN2PAST), Rui Cunha Martins (IHC – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST) and Ruy Llera Blanes (CRIA – Iscte / IN2PAST).

The three speakers will address, in particular, case studies on the May 27, 1977 in Angola, the war and coups d’état in Guinea-Bissau, and the ’25 de Abril’, 1974 in Portugal, among others. The main concern is to reflect with the audience on the possible methodological interest of this intersection in different doctoral research projects, avoiding narrowing the discussion to a specific disciplinary scope.

The meeting starts at 11:00 am, in Room B323 (Building 4), and is intended not only for the scientific and academic community, but is open to all; access is free, subject only to room capacity. Those unable to atttend can watch via Zoom. But it is not the same thing!
