The second moment of IN2PAST’s ‘Investigar para Expor’ initiative (‘To Research in order to Exhibit’, loosely translated) takes place on June 17th at Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar (AMJP) in Lisbon, with a visit to the exhibition ‘Boa viagem, muitas maravilhas’ guided by curators Marta Guerreiro (IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST) and Rita Salgueiro (AMJP), and a talk with IN2PAST researchers Paulo Catrica, Giulia Strippoli, Catarina Laranjeiro and Inês Vieira Gomes, from IHC – NOVA FCSH, moderated by Stefanie Gil Franco (IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST).
‘Boa viagem, muitas maravilhas’ (‘Good journey, many wonders’, very loosely translated), curated by Lígia Afonso (IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2AST), Marta and Rita, is the first collective exhibition based on the funds preserved by BAC – Banco de Arte Contemporânea Maria da Graça Carmona e Costa (bank of contemporary art). It opened on March 20th and runs until June 22nd.
The programme for Investigar para Expor #2, from 4 pm until 6:30 pm, welcomes both researchers and non-specialist audiences, and is an invitation to reflect on different curatorial and exhibition practices that activate and feed on unstable and improbable archives and collections.
Paulo Catrica and Giulia Strippoli curated the exhibition ‘Double Void’, which was at Salut ao Monde!, in Porto, between January and February. With photographs by Paulo and Sebastiano Raimondo, the exhibition was the result of IN2PAST’s exploratory project Filling a Double Void, a Critical and Mnemonic Review of the New City of Santo Andrè 1971-2021, approved for funding in 2023.
Catarina Laranjeiro and Inês Vieira Gomes are the curators of the exhibition ‘Imaginários da Guiné-Bissau: O Espólio de Álvaro de Barros Geraldo’ (‘Imaginaries of Guinea-Bissau: The Estate of Álvaro de Barros Geraldo’), which opened at the beginning of May and runs until 31 August, in the Temporary Exhibitions Room of the National Museum of Natural History and Science.
Investigar para Expor #1 happened in Leiria on February 15th, 2025, at m|i|mo – museu da imagem em movimento, with a guided tour of the ‘Artistas na Fábrica’ (‘Artists in the Factory’) exhibition, led by curators and IN2PAST researchers Raquel Henriques da Silva (IHA – NOVA FCSH) and Emília Margarida Marques (CRIA – Iscte), and a talk with IN2PAST researchers Fátima Moura Ferreira (Lab2PT – UMinho / IN2PAST) and Mariana Pinto dos Santos (IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST).
