‘Chemistry Applied to Heritage, and Partnerships with the Humanities and the Arts’ is the title of the first IN2PAST PhD Talk, which takes place on November 28th, at 4 pm, at NOVA FCSH, Av. de Berna, in Lisbon. The event also includes the premiere of IN2PAST’s website, and a debate on ‘The Digital Temptation, Cultural Heritage and the Uses of the Past’.

This first talk features a presentation by António Candeias and discussion by Susana Varela Flor and Paulo Simões Rodrigues. The debate will be led by Alba Comino, Paula Lobo, João Pedro Cachopo and Pedro Antunes.

IN2PAST PhD Talks will be held throughout the year, in Évora, Lisbon and Minho, between November 2023 and June 2024, to promote the intersection of diverse scientific knowledge, which defines the transdisciplinary nature of our laboratory, from chemistry and music to art history and architecture, from anthropology to contemporary history or archaeology.

At the same time, the talks favour the dialogue between scientific practices of knowledge of the past and other cultural ways of using and understanding it, from heritage interventions to the development of public memory policies, including artistic creation. The full annual programme will be announced soon.
