A recruitment procedure is open to hire an Assistant Researcher to carry out activities in the field of Heritage Sciences, under the ‘programme contract’ (contrato-programa) funded by FCT following approval in the Call Stimulus for Institutional Scientific Employment – Associate Laboratories (CEEC LA ref. CEECINSTLA/00039/2022), at HERCULES Laboratory – University of Évora / IN2PAST – Associate Laboratory for Research and Innovation in Heritage, Arts, Sustainability and Territory, a position listed on the personnel map of the University of Évora under the modality of a public employment contract for an indefinite period (contrato de trabalho em funções públicas por tempo indeterminado).

Evaluation criteria:

  • Quality of the candidates’ scientific work, with a weighting factor of 50 %, considering:
    i) Scientific, cultural, artistic or technological production and its relevance in the call’s disciplinary areas;
    ii) Participation in and coordination of research projects and their relevance to the call’s disciplinary areas;
    iii) Other scientific, cultural, artistic or technological activities;
  • Collaboration in academic training activities, with a weighting factor of 10%:
    i) Scientific supervision of master’s and doctoral students;
    ii) Participation in other teaching activities.
  • Knowledge transfer, with a weighting factor of 15 %:
    i) Intellectual and industrial property;
    ii) Contracts for the provision of specialised services;
    iii) Knowledge dissemination activities in the context of the promotion of scientific culture and practices;
    iv) Training activities;
    v) Non-academic experience relevant to the subject area of the call;
  • Interdisciplinary scientific project, with a weighting factor of 25 %, to be framed within at least one of HERCULES lines of research and IN2PAST’s thematic lines of research;

Special requirements:

PhD in Archaeology, Biochemistry, Conservation Sciences, Earth Sciences, Chemistry or related areas; or PhD in other fields with a relevant scientific CV in Heritage Sciences;

Scientific and professional CV must reveal appropriate profile, with: (a) Training in material study of Cultural Heritage assets; (b) Experience in preparing samples for material analysis; (c) Ability to apply analytical methodologies for material analysis of Cultural Heritage assets or similar materials.
