This exploratory project focuses on the collections of four contemporary Portuguese artists from the same generation, but with very different personalities and paths: Ana Vieira (1940-2016), Clara Menéres (1943-2018), Eduardo Nery (1938-2013) and João Cutileiro (1937-2021). The investigation includes a brief diagnosis of the conservation status of the works, an assessment of their location and packaging, as well as the definition of inventory methodologies and organization of the collections.
At the same time, research and the necessary contacts were carried out to determine the possible future conditions for the reception and accommodation of the objects, in Évora, considering their legal framework, their physical materiality and the safety and environmental stability conditions required to house collections of this nature. This project considers the interest of renewing the city of Évora and the region’s relations with contemporary art, and as a future European Capital of Culture, in 2027.
This project contributes to Thematic Lines TL2, TL3 and TL4.
