If you’re an archaeology student, this Summer School is for you: a week in Braga dedicated entirely to analytical techniques and digital technologies in the context of archaeological excavation, with a team of experienced trainers. The School will take place between July 15th and 19th, from 2pm to 4/5pm, at the D. Diogo Sousa Archaeology Museum, in Braga, and it was designed for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students in Archaeology from all over the country, whether or not they are affiliated with IN2PAST Associated Laboratory. It is organised by HERCULES – University of Évora, as part of IN2PAST’s activities, in collaboration with Lab2PT – University of Minho / IN2PAST, Queen’s University Belfast, in the United Kingdom, and the D. Diogo de Sousa Museum, with the support of project ‘From Boom to Bust on the Atlantic Fringe – copper supply networks in the Irish Late Bronze Age’ (http://doi.org/10.54499/2022.04844.PTDC).

The sessions cover a range of topics, from good practices in the post-excavation packaging of archaeological materials of inorganic origin, to 3D modelling and volumetric (re)construction from archaeological ceramics, to notions of inventorying or preventive conservation of archaeological materials.

IN2PAST researchers Carlo Bottaini and César Oliveira (HERCULES – UÉvora), Filipe Brandão and Paulo Bernardes (Lab2PT – Uminho) are part of the training team, as well as Catarina Cordeiro (Universidade Católica Portuguesa), Clara Lobo, Isabel Marques and Rosa Jardim (D. Diogo de Sousa Museum), and HERCULES visiting researcher João Vinícius Back.
