Part of project ALMADA: Unveiling the Mural Painting Art of Almada Negreiros (1938-1956), a new ebook is out, bringing together works from the fields of conservation and art history, in a multidisciplinary approach: On mural painting – Almada Negreiros, Spain and dictatorships. Conservation and art historical approaches, co-published by IHA and HERCULES Laboratory, two of IN2PAST’s research units.
Edited by Mariana Pinto dos Santos (IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST), Milene Gil (HERCULES – University of Évora / IN2PAST) and Simão Palmeirim (IELT – NOVA FCSH), the ebook, which you can download for free, addresses mainly Almada Negreiros, key figure of the avant-garde and modernism in Portugal, but also presents an important study about mural painting in Spain during the 20th century.
The book’s chapters include the results of lectures that took place at the beginning of the project, which is led by Milene Gil at HERCULES, in the meantime developed for publication, as well as recent studies on Almada Negreiros’ mural paintings.
