On November 15th, 2024, IN2PAST launches a new line of funding to support its young researchers. The aim is to promote scientific activity and strengthen the integration of PhD students and early-career PhDs into the Associate Laboratory and its research units.
The funding, with an initial total value of €12,000 (twelve thousand euros) until the end of 2025, is intended to support missions (travelling and accommodation) and the acquisition of translation and proofreading services for scientific publications. The period for expressions of interest begins on November 15th, 2024 and ends on March 2nd, 2025. The sum granted for each mission or service acquisition will be between €750 and €1,250.
All proposals will be funded for as long as there is financial availability in the funding line, the total amount of which may be increased by decision of the IN2PAST Board of Directors upon reasoned request from the members of the evaluation panel for this initiative.
Presentations at international scientific meetings, carrying out fieldwork – including visits to museums and laboratories, for example – and translating or proofreading scientific papers, book chapters or books are the types of missions and services that can be the subject of a request for support, and which must take place between January 6th and December 31st, 2025.
The evaluation panel will take into account aspects such as the alignment of the proposal with the scientific priorities of IN2PAST’s Thematic Lines, the importance of the support for the development of the PhD or research project in question, and the promotion of an equitable distribution of the support awarded among the multiple research units and management institutions of the Associate Laboratory.
Interested parties should carefully read the regulations for this line of funding (Regulamento da Linha de Apoio para Doutorandos/as e Doutorados/as em Início de Carreira do IN2PAST – Laboratório Associado para a Investigação e Inovação em Património, Artes, Sustentabilidade e Território), paying particular attention to the eligibility conditions, application assessment periods, missions and services covered, criteria for awarding support, and beneficiaries’ obligations, among other requirements and conditions.
