To mark the 50th anniversary of the ’25 de Abril’ revolution, the Institute of Art History / IN2PAST is proposing a series of talks, in partnership with Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar, about images of revolutions, the relationship between image and revolution, and image as revolution.
Each of these talks will stem from a specific work and then bring forth others, taking place at four moments in 2024, and covering Photography, Mural Painting, Plastic Arts and Museums.
The first happens on June 27th, at 5 pm, in Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar, in Lisbon, with CES – Center for Social Studies, University of Coimbra researcher Miguel Cardina, and IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST researchers Afonso Dias Ramos, Ana Balona de Oliveira and Susana S. Martins. Moderated by IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST researcher Mariana Pinto dos Santos, the starting point is photography book Revoluções – Guiné-Bissau, Angola e Portugal (1969-1974), by Uliano Lucas.
The other three talks are scheduled for July 11th, October 10th and October 17th. Check our website for further updates.
