What are the challenges of a year-long transdisciplinary exploratory project? And how do you successfully prepare and implement a major European project? We invite you to discuss these issues with us on November 13th, from 2 pm to 4 pm, in an open-access webinar with the participation of the four Principal Investigators in charge of the IN2PAST 2024/2025 exploratory projects, two-time ERC-winning researcher Helena Machado and the Head of NOVA FCSH’s Research Support Division (DAI, in the Portuguese acronym), Marisa Borges.
From the 3D modelling of a Romanesque chapel to the collaborative digital musealisation of Kamayurá artefacts, the role of endogenous clay in traditional ceramic production and the Musical Library of King João IV in Vila Viçosa, four new exploratory projects bring together 32 researchers from IN2PAST’s seven research units.
During the first hour of our webinar, researchers Fabio Sitzia (HERCULES – University of Évora), Isabel Pires (CESEM – NOVA FCSH), Mathilda Coutinho (HERCULES – UÉvora) and Rodrigo Lacerda (CRIA – NOVA FCSH) will present the hypotheses and methodologies for their respective projects, highlighting the scientific contribution to be made and the research agenda proposed for IN2PAST.
The four researchers in charge will also propose a reflection on the main challenges and benefits of building a multi-/inter-/transdisciplinary scientific agenda, exploring the opportunities and complexities of this collaborative approach when defining teams and research agendas.
At 3 pm, we invite Helena Machado (CRIA – University of Minho / IN2PAST), winner of two European Research Council (ERC) grants – the last one worth 2.46 million euros, to study the global impacts of facial recognition technologies – to share her experience in submitting and managing European projects, and multi-/inter-/transdisciplinary research teams and agendas.
This conversation, which we believe can be enriched by, and enriching for researchers who lead, have led or intend to lead research projects, science managers and other audiences interested in the issues of transdisciplinarity and projects-based science, will also be joined by Marisa Borges, Head of NOVA FCSH’s Research Support Division.
Participate via Zoom using the link tinyurl.com/webinar-in2past-13nov (you will be asked to register with your name, email, city and organisation).
