The International Conference on Innovation in Art Research and Technology (InArt2026) will take place from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Funchal, Madeira (Portugal).

InART2026 focuses on creating a platform for knowledge sharing across different fields of science and technologies applied to the characterisation, conservation and preservation of global cultural heritage.

In this way, participants from diverse fields within humanities and natural sciences are invited to join and create an interdisciplinary discussion – a vital ingredient for innovation – about cultural heritage preservation in the academic fields of archaeological objects, artworks, built heritage, and more.

If you work in and/or are interested in topics such as archives, collections, sustainable conservation and restoration solutions, digital technologies or application and development of analytical techniques for the diagnosis and study of heritage, this biennial and international conference is for you.

Conference topics:

  2. Digital and Sustainable Innovation in Cultural Heritage
  3. Development of Advanced Technological Tools
  4. Sustainable Conservation Materials and Environmental Management
  5. Digital Heritage & Collection Management

 

Submit your abstract by 15 April (deadline extended) to: inart2026@uevora.pt

 

The Conference is organized by Laboratório HERCULES, Direção Regional de Cultura da Madeira, Ghent University and has as its Chairs António Candeias (Laboratório HÉRCULES – UÉvora / IN2PAST), Sara Valadas (Laboratório HÉRCULES – UÉvora / IN2PAST) and Peter Vandenabeele (Ghent University).

All accepted submissions will be included in the conference’s Book of Abstracts.

Each author is required to submit one photograph that represents their project along with the text.
Posters must be in A0 format, portrait orientation. For further details, please download the Abstract Template.
