\u2018Crossed Archives\u2019 was the title of the first international conference organized in the framework of project ARTHE \u2013 Arquivar o Teatro (\u2018to archive the theatre\u2019), led by CET<\/a> \u2013 Centro de Estudos de Teatro (Centre for Theater Studies) and of which IHC \/ IN2PAST is a partner. The meeting took place this week, at Teatro Nacional de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o, Porto, on December 11 and 12th<\/sup>, 2023.<\/p>

Bringing together researchers and artists, from Chile to Brazil, from Italy to the United Kingdom, one of the main goals of the Confer\u00eancia Internacional Arquivos Cruzados<\/a> was to open a space for discussion about the circumstances of archiving as a practice, highlighting its fundamental role in the preservation and understanding of the performing arts.<\/p>

Ana Bigotte Vieira, IHC \/ IN2PAST researcher and co-principal investigator of project ARTHE, was one of the moderators, as were H\u00e9lia Mar\u00e7al and Paula Casp\u00e3o, also affiliated with IHC. CESEM researcher Filipa Magalh\u00e3es presented a communication titled \u2018Archiving and reactivating Portuguese music theater\u2019.<\/p>

Starting from the analysis of two archives donated to CET \/ Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa \u2013 the archives of Teatro da Cornuc\u00f3pia<\/a>, an essential company in the aesthetic and political renewal of theatre after the revolution of April 25th<\/sup>, 1974, and those of M\u00e1rio Barradas, the main promoter of theatrical decentralization \u2013, ARTHE \u2013 Archiving the Theatre<\/a> aims to identify, map and study the state of theatre archives in Portugal, in order to establish a good practice plan involving a network of institutions. The project is funded by the Portuguese Funda\u00e7\u00e3o para a Ci\u00eancia e a Tecnologia (PTDC\/ART-PER\/1651\/2021) and headed by CET researcher Maria Jo\u00e3o Brilhante.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
