The meeting was held at the Cresta Mowana Resort in Kasane, Republic of Botswana, between December 5 and 8, 2023.<\/p><p>This eighteenth session marked the 20th anniversary of the adoption by UNESCO of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ich.unesco.org\/en\/convention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage<\/a>. CRIA \u2013 Centre for Research in <a href=\"https:\/\/in2past.org\/pt\/events\/phd-in-anthropology-picm-2026-27\/\">Anthropology<\/a> is accredited by UNESCO as Non-Governmental Organization providing advisory services to the Intergovernmental Committee in the framework of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.<\/p><p>The Committee inscribed 6 new elements on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding, including Mozambique&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/ich.unesco.org\/en\/USL\/ingoma-ya-mapiko-01996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mapiko dance<\/a>, and 45 elements on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
