Almada [Negreiros] retratou a pobreza e a emigra\u00e7\u00e3o, e f\u00ea-lo com uma linguagem pict\u00f3rica arrojada e tamb\u00e9m muito diferente do que se esperava de uma obra p\u00fablica, sobretudo na segunda esta\u00e7\u00e3o [mar\u00edtima]. \u00c9 por isso que \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio conhecer estas pinturas, que podem agora ser visitadas durante todo o ano. Encontram-se tamb\u00e9m estudos e refer\u00eancias utilizadas pelo artista, bem como documenta\u00e7\u00e3o relativa \u00e0 pol\u00e9mica que as pinturas suscitaram e que amea\u00e7ou destruir todo o projeto da Rocha do Conde de \u00d3bidos.<\/p><p>\u2018Por outro lado, o Centro de Interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o enquadra os murais de Almada Negreiros num contexto hist\u00f3rico mais alargado, ao abordar o que foi a vida nas gares durante e ap\u00f3s a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Desta forma, o Centro torna-se um espa\u00e7o de mem\u00f3ria de momentos marcantes da hist\u00f3ria do s\u00e9culo XX que passaram pelas gares mar\u00edtimas: a passagem de refugiados durante a II Guerra Mundial, a emigra\u00e7\u00e3o, a coloniza\u00e7\u00e3o, a partida de militares para a guerra colonial e o seu regresso, a chegada de estudantes para a Casa dos Estudantes do Imp\u00e9rio, como Am\u00edlcar Cabral ou M\u00e1rio Pinto de Andrade, ou o regresso da popula\u00e7\u00e3o branca portuguesa que vivia nos territ\u00f3rios colonizados e que teve de partir no processo de descoloniza\u00e7\u00e3o ap\u00f3s o 25 de abril<sup>th<\/sup>, 1974.\u2019\u00a0<\/p><p>\u2018O maior desafio foi combinar conhecimentos de diferentes \u00e1reas e sobre diferentes \u00e9pocas.
