Dance through the eyes of Contemporary History, Cultural Studies, Art History or Anthropology<\/a> is the motto for the talk \u2018Investigar as Dan\u00e7as \u2013 Interrogar o Mundo’<\/a> (\u2018Researching Dance \u2013 Questioning the World\u2019), on December 4th, at 6 pm, in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Lower Floor Gallery, in Lisbon, organised by the \u2018dan\u00e7a n\u00e3o dan\u00e7a\u2019 team in co-operation with IN2PAST, as part of the exhibition \u2018dan\u00e7a n\u00e3o dan\u00e7a \u2013 \u00a0Archaeologies of new dance in Portugal\u2019 (\u2018dan\u00e7a n\u00e3o dan\u00e7a \u2013 Arqueologias da nova dan\u00e7a em Portugal\u2019).<\/p>

With free admission (subject to capacity), this meeting invites researchers interested in 20th century Cultural History and Art History, artists and other audiences attentive to the intersections between dance and politics to talk with Francisco Mendes<\/a>, researcher at Lab2PT \u2013 University of Minho \/ IN2PAST, CRIA \u2013 Iscte \/ IN2PAST researcher Maria Jos\u00e9 Fazenda<\/a> and CHAM \u2013 NOVA FCSH researcher Maria Jo\u00e3o Castro.<\/p>

The National Ballet of Guinea-Bissau as a revolutionary movement for the nationalisation of post-independence Guinean culture will be the focus of Francisco Mendes\u2018 participation [\u2019Dan\u00e7ar as Na\u00e7\u00f5es \u2013 The History of the National Ballet of Guinea-Bissau (1975-2025)\u2019]. Maria Jos\u00e9 Fazenda will help us to understand the singularity of theatrical dance practices in Portugal and the diversity of its manifestations in the country’s context [\u2018Dan\u00e7a (Portugal) teatral\u2019] and Maria Jo\u00e3o Castro will discuss \u2018the vision of the double game of the power of dance, and the dance of power\u2019 (\u2018Dan\u00e7a e Poder\u2019).<\/p>

The exhibition \u2018dan\u00e7a n\u00e3o dan\u00e7a \u2013 Arqueologias da nova dan\u00e7a em Portugal<\/a>\u2019 (\u2018dan\u00e7a n\u00e3o dan\u00e7a \u2013 Archaeologies of new dance in Portugal\u2019), also with free admission (with a ticket), can be visited until January 13th, 2025, from 10 am to 6 pm (closed on Tuesdays), at the Gulbenkian’s Lower Floor Gallery. Curated by researchers Ana Bigotte Vieira<\/a> (IHC \u2013 NOVA FCSH \/ IN2PAST) and Ana Dinger (Research Centre for Communication and Culture, UCP), and Carlos Manuel Oliveira and Jo\u00e3o dos Santos Martins (Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Parasita), the exhibit was produced by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Parasita.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
